I'm at the library tonight getting caught up on a little email and FB stuff and visiting with my blogging friends. I had a very busy weekend. Seems like the home chores stack up and then Saturday comes and that's all I can do is get chores done. We also have lots of gardening stuff to do before planting this weekend. Doug and I pulled all the weeds that were coming up from last years compost application. The chickens love eating weeds. Then Doug spread all the compost and manure out of the chicken coop from last year. Aged chicken manure is great fertilizer, but before it is tilled in... yuk. I really don't care as long as the plants grow. We have been raking leaves and cleaning out the coop this year and putting that all in the compost pile for next year's application.
This weekend is the big planting day. Our little plants are just stretching and yearning to be released into the garden where they can run free. Strawberries are all flowering and we'll cover them up soon to they don't become birdfood. I want to take some pictures around the place to get you up to date on all the happenings around the farm.
So anyway, I worked really hard all day Saturday and then Sunday between services. Raking and mowing and hanging laundry out and cleaning and cooking. Sunday night about 12am I got some really terrible leg cramps. I believe it was the Sartorius muscle mostly, though it felt just horrible. Twice last night I was awakened with these cramps. Very little sleep and my legs feel like Jello today. I got some Valerian which is a muscle relaxing herb at the Coop tonight after work but is seems to be making my stomach yukky. Any ideas guys? I don't have a bath tub, so that's out... too hot for a hot bath anyway. I have been drinking plenty of fluids.
Well, the library is about to close. Email me any ideas.
Love ya'll

Our chicks arrived today
35 - two day old meat birds arrived this morning to our post office. It's hard to believe that in September they will each be about 10-14 lbs and headed for the freezer.
Pictures tomorrow maybe.
Have a great day.

Ima Slacker
OK, I know Ima Slacker. In fact I may even be her! I haven't blogged for almost a month... that's just not acceptable! My days and nights are filled. Lately even my lunch breaks are filled. Today I should actually be going to get compost for the chickens during my lunch break, but I decided to write here instead. I also have a financial issue to tackle which hopefully won't take too much of my lunch.
My daughter's snagged me for a day last week and we went to the hair salon and hiking and also got some goodies at the Baker's Studio... my fav. I get a haircut once a year and they thought it would be their Mother's Day treat for me. Also they purchased an apple tree for me (Macoun... is there any other?) and we planted that right next to the driveway. It will be so pretty there and probably drop apples on my car :) Hey, the original drive through.
Here's a picture of the three of us... I want to say... we all seem to have the same shape, but we're working on that.
It was a really fun day for all of us... but especially me.
A friend of mine sent me these pictures and I just have to share since you really need a chuckle today....
OK... this is me in a few years... so I'm not laughing too hard.
Have a wonderful day y'all and I'll try not to be
so long the next time.
Just a comment to the commentors...
Thanks girls for visiting my blog.
Kari we have already moved, but we have not been able to live in our mobile home since the contractor who did the dirt work did it incorrectly and it needs to be fixed. We have 1/2 a roof and the other portion is covered with tarps. We also are planning a summer kitchen, sun room and room for a wood furnace since insurance companys frown on wood heating in mobile homes. There will also be a loft bedroom in the addition. We would like to have my grandson come to visit from time to time and this would be a fun room for him.
The mobile home was my mom and dad's place and when my mom passed away we had it moved to our land in New Hampshire. It is a small lot, but has lots of potential if we can get the dirt work done properly this summer and get the addition and garage done. All our belongings have been in storage since 2007.
When we went to the farm for milk last night the farmer was out watching some turkeys in the field across the street. There were 4 or 5 males all fanned out and they were getting ready to perch for the night. We watched them fly up into the large pines surrounding the field. As they flew up a deer came out into the field to graze. Our hunting season doesn't start till next week. We don't usually get a license though we have all my dad's rifles. Hunting licenses cost too much. It's easier to hunt in the chicken coop if we're hungry :) I would love to hunt though... we have had moose, bear, turkeys, and deer walking across our property at one time or other. The dog has chased bear on 3 different occasions. One time it took a swipe at her and snatched her collar right off. All part of country living.
Thanks for coming to visit... even though I haven't been around lately.
